I have edited my footage and color corrected it, it looks fine in Premiere but on output it looks milky and desaturated when viewed with VLC. I have tried various output formats and they all have the same milky look. BUT if I import the outputted files back into Premiere they look like my original footage within premiere i.e. saturated and contrast is ok.

Any Ideas why they look so bad in VLC

I think it depends which output module VLC is using for playback. Can you check? Try switching between the options to see if you can’t get it to match. It’s highly likely there’s nothing wrong with your video at all.

Dave, you may also want to make sure that the output levels of your video are set to 0-255 and not to 16-235 (the so called ‘Broadcast Safe’).

Thanks for the reply, excuse the noob question but how do I check the output levels are at 0-255 rather than 16-235

I was on the default output module

I stepped through all the output modules as suggested but unfortunately they don’t show any improvement.

What is your source, what are your sequence settings and what are your export settings. Be specific please.
