Outer Glow Effect

May 31, 2022 at 2:14 pmI want to create a shape (just a square), add an outer glow then remove the shape fill (and stroke) but keep only the outer glow. When I lower the opacity of my rectangle fill it lowers the outer glow as well. Is there a way around this? I tried creating an alpha matte layer but didn’t have much luck. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

May 31, 2022 at 8:22 pmmaybe, add a glow (or blur, or whatever you want to use to create the glow) then add calculations effect and set to silhouette alpha and second layer opacity to 100%.

June 1, 2022 at 1:34 pmif you are using layer styles for the outer glow, then the layer styles allwos for a 0% fill, ( see pic ) but if you want to use effects, I think duplicating the layer and putting it in silhouette is a quick fix. ( you could also parent it in case you change position or size afterwards )
