I’m capturing video and audio in FCP Via a firewire inerface from a very old VHS tape. There are many dropped frames and sections of the tape with no data. By the time I get to the end of my 2 hour or so clip in the timeline, the audio is not in sync with the video anymore. What’s the simplest way to capture video like this without running into this issue? Is it as simple as running the signal through a TBC first? Thanks for any input.

It would be much better to record the VHS to a DV tape first, then capture the DV.

A digital TBC/FRAMESYNC can help, as you suggested, but if you don’t have access to a pretty GOOD one, dubbing to DV would help.
