    Hello friends,

I might be getting an opportunity to do apple color work for a week out of state (flight & hotel paid for) and the producer asks me what my day or hour rate was and I just went with what i know – which is $500 a day (coming from a freelance editorial background).

Please let me know what your thoughts are on this – am I totally stupid and undercutting you guys with 20 years of colorist experience? I have posted before about rates and some have said $160 an hour if its a few hours or whatever – but my background as an editor has been $500 a day or sometimes as low as $300 if just doing assisting or transcoding, etc but of course as a colorist trying to advance my career I would hate to undercut my brethren and do myself a disservice at the same time.

Any thoughts or opinions on this would be great!
    thank you

    500-1000 is normal.
500 for indie stuff, 1000 for high class advertising.
In-between is room for Rabat for longer periods, nice clients and how much you wanna support the project.
