Hello I’m working on a project involving HDV footage and large 1200 dpi TIFF files, animated with motion blur. It was all fine while I was working the timeline as HDV, once I switched to Apple Pro Res HQ the timeline wont render, and I get the “Out of Memory” message.

I went as far as to a create a new project with just one shot at the time, still doesnt work. Will a graphics card solve the problem?

I have a G5 with 8 Gigs of Ram. Any advise will be greatly apreciated since I cant move forward.

Just a thought, maybe the Memory/Cache Setting in the Final Cut Pro System Preferences in Final Cut Pro is set to low. You can set the Video and Still Memory allocations separately, give it a whirl…… that is my 2 cent guess…

i don’t know if it will fix your problem but pro res hq is unnecessary in most situations. maybe just try pro res.

Also make sure your still do not exceed 4k pixels as this will cause an out of memory message trying to render. You can test by trying to render each still to see which ones will do this or just check the pixel info.

Your still files are too large. Need to resize them smaller – try and calculate the smallest you can get away with, i.e. enough to do moves and such.
