Ok, so this is a weird one. I have an operator in our FCP Online suite (G5 quad 2.5, OSX 10.4.8, FCP 5.1.2, 4gb memory, Kona 3) working on a 30 minute show.
He is grading and onlining DV material on a 10 bit uncompressed time line, rendered to output 10 bit uncompressed.
Despite doing nothing taxing in the sequence, he keeps experiencing “Out Of Memory” errors when trying to open more than one 30 minute sequence. The canvas window will then display a red screen with the words , “Cannot display pictures, please close and reopen sequence”. Despite closing the sequence, this can only be canceled by completely closing FCP and restarting it. This is slowing down our onlining process and resticting us to a single timeline open at any one time (far from ideal I’m sure you’d agree).
If anyone has any ideas, they would be gratefully recieved.

I am not too sure but you could check in the system settings “Minimum allowable freespace on Scratch disk”
it could be set to high.

Always use the old standby with issues such as this…

Trash your preferences, and Zap the PRAM.

That will usually do the trick.
