Is your system drive close to being full? When the RAM gets full it writes files temporarily to the hard drive until it has more space in RAM. Perhaps it’s running out of places to put things there?

also, don’t keep too many of those sequences open in the timeline if you’re not actively working on them. open sequences, even if not active, will use up RAM

I think 2 gb of RAM should not be the real problem. Yes having a lot of long sequences can slow down working.
My system has 4gb but the menumeter shows most of the time 2,711,7MB being used.
My tipp split the projekt an keep open only what you need.

But I do have a problem too, naming the “out of memory” message, but it comes after it breakes down a render selection procces even though there are 150gb free on the raid.

    Any idea?
maybe if shoud trash the prefs!

    Thanks

    Georg
