Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Out of Memory

  • Posted by Mark Mulcaster on May 26, 2009 at 10:19 pm

    Hi guys
Im running Final Cut Pro with 8GB of ram, on a xsan server (with about 16tb total capacity
Im working on a 48min documentry (in Apple Pro Res 422HQ 1080i)
The project has several 8 or 9 minute seqences and a wealth of bins.
Recently when ive been opeing FCP in the morning the servers taking a good 5 to 10 minutes to load the project and then when it does and i select a sequeance i receive an error message saying Out of Memory….
The FCP project (which in itself is 89megs in size) is copied from the server to the desktop each morning and then saved back at night (we discontinued using FCPS a short while back and have adopted a simplified folder workflow)
I dont run any other applications in the background when running FCP but i seem to be getting the Out of Memory message more frequently.

Any ideas on how i could reduce this from happening, it seems a little odd as there isn’t any sequences open or any media in either source or record monitors.

Suggestions, and speculations are most welcome!

Try breaking your project into several smaller projects and see if the problem persists.

Large project files can cause the behavior you describe.

    Best,

    Tom
