O.T. Wireless lavalier mic
Just ordered my new VX2100 camera and gonna order a wireless mic…but wanted to ask you guys and gals who have used them if I should go with a directional or omni directional pickup pattern. I want to be able to pick up the surrounding subjects (wedding party, etc.) but would rather not pick up the ambient room sounds. Any suggestions?

That sounds contradictory to me. If you want to pick up the wedding party, you will pick up the room sounds too.
Even though the possibility of room noise, go with the omni. Check out the Sennheiser line. I think they are the best bang for the buck right now.
