Sorry I repeat here this post that I’ve sent to the PP Forum.
    Affects many FCP users:

    Dear Sir,
I just had a look to yours Company’s program (SWITCH) for people migrating from AVID and FCP.
    That’s great: a 50% price cut.

However when I look for the offer in your Europe Web Site, I can’t find it.
    I find this:

    Waooooooohhh!!
Seems that I will have to pay x 4.4 the price of USA customers for the same product.
That if I buy it in Europe; If I try to buy it in my area (South East Asia) it will be ever more expensive.

Would you be kind enough to explain me why?

For a video editor in the USA, paying US$850 means ONE WEEK wages.
    But you you know Sir?
I live in a country where a video editor makes some US$ 500 a month.
So to buy the same software means 9 MONTHS wages.
That means that your software costs 36 times more expensive.

In the USA you can get that investment back in one week.
Here your application will get obsolete before you get your investment back.

Sir, your Company’s rights and interests are very important, but don’t forget other’s rights, and don’t forget to read this:
    https://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/

I hope your Company reconsider this policy which, beside generating grievance and inequity, probably will fuel piracy.

    Best Regards,
    Rafael Amador

BTW, AVID is really try to help here:

I wish was a typo Shane.
The Production suit plus the few third party plugins I’ll need (I bought, Nattress, Saphire, NeatVideo, MBLooks and some Re_Vision effects), will cost me 7K.
    Yes: 7 thousand dollars.

I was eyeing that half off offer as well.

Rafael, do you want me to buy it and ship it to you?

[Chris Tompkins] “Rafael, do you want me to buy it and ship it to you?”
    Chris,
I really thanks much your offer, but probably the software will be restricted to the American area and I won’t be able to update it later on.
I had that experience with Combustion years ago: I bought it while in the USA, but when I came back to Europe, never was able to update it.

Thanks again Chris, just wanted to cry loud my frustration.
Nothing about Apple or Adobe. Must be the summer heat 🙂
    Cheers,

    Rafael,
Sorry for this. Seems like the grass is not always greener on the other side.
But it is method. In Australia the full version without promotion cost almost $1000 more than in US even though the Aussie dollar is more worth than the US dollar so it actually should be a few dollars cheaper.
The promotional price is still almost $500 more……..

Same with FCPX in Australia, dearer than in the USA, even with our stronger currency.
Disincentive to get incomplete overpriced beta software.

    Cheers
