    Hello all;

    A bit OT, sorry.
    I need to dub screeners
    from Mini DV to VHS for a client.
    I know I can use FCP to add TC,
    but would rather not chew up drive space
    and time for capture, etc.

    Other than using the unreliable control track
    for reference, is there a gizmo available
    to add TC in-between?

    thanks!

    You mean burn in TC for viewing? Just turn on the display on DV deck and roll to the VHS machine.

    If you want to actually add TC to the VHS tape, I know S-VHS can do this with a professional VHS machine, but I don’t know if regular old VHS can do this.

    Depending on your playback device, you should be able to output TC in the display like Walter suggested. On some devices, it only displays on the composite connection. If you can see it on a monitor, you can transfer it to a VHS cassette.

    If this doesn’t work, get back to us with more info on your decks, cameras, etc.

    Steve;

    I am dubbing directly from my cam,
    a JVC DV500 to VHS. Have gone through
    all menu settings and I’ll be darned
    if I can come up with anything.
    I am taking sig from composite, too.

    May just have to go with reading control track.

    Thanks for the replies, all!
