OT: station asking for mono
Posted by Aaron Neitz on November 13, 2009 at 10:13 pmCurious dub order today from a major network asking for a spot on BetaSP with a Mono mix.
Does anyone else ever get these? Seems awfully archaic. Must be a technical reason?

November 14, 2009 at 12:27 amTracked it down to a clerical error on the dub order.
Happy Friday all!

November 14, 2009 at 2:15 amIsn’t it always a clerical error when you have certain people involved with such “rocket science” type tasks like dubbing?
Believe it or not, I still have stations that I ship to once a year that can only deal with 1 inch video. And, the audio has to be mono. Their specs. Go figure. I won’t get rid of my 1 inch machines until people stop paying me to fire them up.
I actually have working NTSC and PAL Betamax machines and brand new Betamax tape stock to boot. Need some Betamax dubs, I got ya covered.chad

November 14, 2009 at 7:56 pmNot too long ago, well, 5 or 6 years ago, MTV2 was requesting spots be delivered on 3/4″. We also filled an order for 1″ to be sent to some place in Oklahoma.

November 16, 2009 at 11:35 amJeah,
I did not mean You and Your facility, I meant the Chicago area broadcasters, if they are still using ancient formats for broadcasting new programs. Archival stuff is different case, of course it´s anything starting from 2″ but NEW STUFF?!?! Is it possible even today to buy new 1″ tapes? -

November 16, 2009 at 8:26 pmSo You guys don´t even read the posts You respond…
I said it is normal thing for ARCHIVAL STUFF to be what ever format, but how is it POSSIBLE 2009 that some broadcasters need their NEW programs on 1″?
So You Chad film and edit a show on HDCam-SR444 and then deliver it in 1″?
Is it even possible to get new spare parts for those machines? And new tapes? -

November 17, 2009 at 12:49 amBecause, some very, very small TV stations around the world have not had the money or need yet to get updated equipment. They make few, if any NEW parts for these older video decks. There are miles of 1″ video tape out there. Few of it is unused. If you need some, you find some, and record over it.
