OT: Source for 8mm film transfer
Greeting Herd…
I’m looking for a place that can do 8mm/Super-8mm film transfer. Every couple of weeks we have people (or clients) call asking about getting their old home movies to DVD. They are not looking for professional quality transfers, just something good enough to watch at home. While they could simply shoot the movies off of a screen with a camcorder, the results are less than ideal with the flicker and such. What I’m looking for is a “consumer” level service location that I can simply give them as a recommendation when we get these inquiries.
I’m in the upper Midwest area here. Anything in the Chicago or Minneapolis areas possibly?

You should be able to find something local in your Yellow Pages. There are a few places around here that do exactly what you want, so you must have them too.
I just googled, “film transfer cheap” and this is the first entry.

I highly recommened them. I just had about 14 rolls of old home movies transferred right before Thanksgiving. They had them back in under two weeks and they look great. Plus, I payed a little more and they transferred them in HD and put all the files on a portable hard drive. (You have to pay for the hard drive AND buy it from the them if you want that service, but it’s very reasonable)
Also, if you sign up for their newsletter, about every other month the offer discounts on their service. Again, they did a great job for a very good and if you have any questions, they’re customer service folks actually know what they’re talking about.
