April 29, 2008 at 5:26 pmActually the DVCPRO large tapes are identical to the large dvcam tapes. DCVPRO-M are mid sized between the mini-dv and the large cassettes and require an adapter in some decks.
DVCPRO 25 with metal particle tape requires better heads to handle the tape. You can scrub audio at 25X speed and video scrub (shuttle) displays pictures at higher speed than dvcam can. These are the main advantages when editing linearly in the decks.

The cassettes are EXACTLY the same size, I played a DVCpro tape in my DSR11 last night,and it played great. I don’t need to play out to Firewire, I just need to set up a little viewing station for clients and AEs to view and log, so as not to tie up the edit suite.
