OT – Price difference

I’m planning on buying a laptop when I’m in the US, as it’s much cheaper than buying it here in S. Africa.
Is there is [major] difference in price between purchasing at an actual store, as opposed to purchasing online?
Or are the prices pretty much standardised?

April 11, 2006 at 10:05 pmif you buy online from an out of state source that is not direct from Apple, you can save some money on Sales Tax. For instance, if you purchase a computer from B&H in New York (bhphoto.com) and you are staying in California, you will not have to pay Sales Tax. You will have to wait for the package though as opposed to walking into a store and buying it right away.

Not exactly. Amazon frequently has large $150 to $200 rebates with no sales tax and no shipping. Apple, Smalldog, Expercom and at least one other company sell refurbs (full waranty) for about a 20% discount.
