  OT: panasonic aj1400 hd question

  Hi,

  I realize that this is a bit off topic but this is where I hang out… and I like the people. Also things seem to be fairly quiet over at the HD forum.

  I was wondering if anyone can tell me if they have tried ingesting DVCProHD from an aj-HD1400 via firewire (into Finalcut Pro 6) and if that is a workable method for capturing and editing in DVCProHD.

  I’ve got plans for a Kona 3 based system early next year but I’ve got a pilot coming up and I have to find a way to ingest the material very soon.. and do an offline for audience testing.

  I can either ingest and edit in DVCProHD and offline in full DVCProHD or downconvert to SD… those are the two ideas that occur to me. Comments? All i’ve got on hand now for hardware is a Decklink Extreme card. We’ll rent the deck.

  Another question about the deck: I see that it can downconvert HD to SD via SDI (at least that is the way I interpret what is in the brochure) but they don’t say if it is letterboxed or anamorphic. Is is a decent quality downconvert?
