    Never seen this one before:

SD VIDEO specifications: Frame size: 720 x 480/486i

486i sounds ultra tech-y. Think I’m gonna start using it. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in video, adding letters to stuff makes you sound smarter.

Please tell me you are kidding. Because that is an actual broadcast spec. 486i is the actual dimensions of SD video. 480 is DV and DV50 only.

With so many in the world working from consumer 480i dv it comes as no surprise.

We shot 486i for years and years B/4 HD.

Yes, I know. I was just pointing out that I didn’t know we were now calling it 486i.

There were just lots of little oddities on this spec sheet. Informing me that DVCProHD was not acceptable for broadcast SD.

[Matt Callac] “I was just pointing out that I didn’t know we were now calling it 486i.”

I is for interlaced. Seems reasonable to me to add — the point of a spec is to be specific.

I can only assume that they had to add that to the spec sheet for a reason. I salute you for reading and thinking about the spec sheet, because obviously people before you have not.
