I’m sure some of you have seen this already, but it’s pretty wild/scary. Certainly takes the pain out of hours of rotoscoping, but at the same time, it takes the operator out of the picture, too.

    It looks interesting… But…

The idea (from the first example) that you would poorly expose your video, but perfectly expose your high res stills… Let’s face it, the same sh*t head working both cameras is probably going to make the same stupid mistake. And most consumer quality digital still cameras offer you little to no opportunity to change this.

The HDR example looks quite intriguing, though. As does the automagical removal of a sign from in front of flowers. And the increase in resolution looks, quite frankly, too good to be true.

The guys voice is so bad, so unbelieveable nerdy sounding, so annoying that I just couldn’t listen. It could be great stuff, but that guy couldn’t sell it to me under any circumstances.

I think that is a proof of concept video. I’m sure stuff like this is coming sooner than later, I know a lot of people looking for motion HDR.

    David –

I didn’t realize you had such delicate sensibilities.

The reason you thought him nerdy sounding is cause he’s a nerd.

The reason he couldn’t sell you anything is ’cause he ain’t a salesmen. He’s an academic and, get this, he’s giving away his code, publishing it for free, figuring that someone like Adobe might want to make use of it, because now that he’s worked it out he’s onto some other research.

I really think you should take a look at the whole piece, it’s an amazing piece of wizardry, and if you have to you can turn the sound off.
