    Hey all –

got a 300 gig Media VideoRaid RTR that is about 3 years old, hooked
(scsi) to an older dual 1.2 G4 machine. We have upgraded OSX verions
(now at 10.3.9) and moved to fcp4.5 over the life of this array. We
have about 30 gig free space.

Recently, we have been seeing glitches, droputs, dropped frames when
playing back off this drive. I reset the scsi connections, run disk
first aid, etc and all seems good. Still having the maddening
sporadic problem. Any other ideas? Firmware update? If there is a
firmware update, do I need to clean the drive off or back up all the
    media before the update?

ah, and I just discovered that the freelancer brought this material in a 10 bit uncompressed. If I create an 8 bit sequence and render out, will that help with a potential bit rate problem?

    Thanks in advance.
