OT: Is this New? Tiger and DVD -R/RW +R/RW
Posted by Mark Burton on April 30, 2005 at 4:57 pmI am not sure if this is new, but I hadn’t known it was possible in Panther. I have upgraded my G5 to Tiger and looking in System Profiler for the DVD Drive specs tells me that the drive is supported for both DVD -R/RW and +R/RW. Is this new to Tiger?

April 30, 2005 at 5:26 pmIt’s the drives Apple’s putting in now. My G4 PB 1.67GHz came with Panther and burns DVD -R/RW and +R/RW’s. Upgrading to Tiger didn’t add this.
But watching the HD trailers in Q7 is sure sweet. 🙂
The latest round of drives Apple’s putting in now support dual layer.–==Kevin==–

April 30, 2005 at 7:29 pmWhat you are seeing is that 10.4 has streamlined working with RW disks. No longer do you have to use disc utility to black a RW disc. You can do it in the finder, and system profiler is telling you that you can, like it indicated disc-burn support.

May 1, 2005 at 10:39 amTiger may have made it easier to use but I’ve been burning both + and – DVD RW’s before Tiger’s release. Course, I was using Toast which may explain why nothing looks new to me. 🙂
I do know that Tiger is running much, much faster on my machine than Panther did.
