I recently inherited my wife’s old PC laptop, and I thought if I set it up in my office I could get over my PC ignoramusitis. It has some kind of startup settings set by her old company, plus a boatload of Realtor software I neither want or need. I can’t browse with it, and I spent an hour on tech support with my ISP trying to rid it of it’s settings to no avail. So, would the best thing be to just do a clean instal of a more up-to-date Windows software, and if so, how is this done? Or any other suggestions?

I figure having a PC will make me more compatible with my clients, all of whom except one are on PCs, I’ve been able to bluff my way through with Flip4Mac, but there are still times I wish I had a PC, so now I’ve got one. Thanks in advance…

Run to your local public library and check out a couple of the PC for Dummies-type books.
    They are your only hope.

Taking your PC down to zero is not as easy as reformatting your Macintosh. Not at all.

The experience will do you good, it’s quite humbling to be at the mercy of Microsoft. The additional computing power. ability to cruise the Net while doing real work on your Mac and the ability to open some of your client’s material instantly will be handy. Also, the Windows media tools will be fun to have around.

Umm, I do need to warn you: In just a few days you will not be happy with this machine’s speed, graphics abilities, RAM and drive capacity. You will start looking at the CompUSA and CircuitCity ads with more interest. You will begin to use phrases like “updated drivers” and “Where are those dot-ee-ex-ease?” in everyday speech.

    You are doomed.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

    ROFLOL!

Bogie, yesterday, after watching Jobs make a fool of himself and his company, and watching our (leader?) president make a fool of himself and his country, I was in need of a good laugh. Thanks my friend, and great advice.
