If I need a freelancer, the first thing I do is ask around other editors and producers I trust for referrals. If I can’t find someone I need, I’ve actually posted “Help Wanted” calls here on the Cow in the Job Forum and have found some very good local editors that way too.

October 21, 2006 at 2:47 amTypically production companies hire people they know. If that resource is tapped out, they ask everyone they know if they can recommend editors for the job. That usually fills the job. Barring that, THEN they go to Mandy.com or Craigslist.
