I know this is a bit off topic, but I wanted to say at how amazed I was about yesterdays American Idol performance where Elvis was brought on stage Live with Celine Deion for a duet. I know, rotoscoping and all, but just great to see it in action! Whoever worked on that, hats off to you/everyone! Quite realistic–a bit of color correction where you could still see the roughness/spectrum of film 25+ years ago, but just amazing! It gives a lot of ideas for where the future is…

I think what’s more amazing is that this show is still watched by so many while it’s musical credibility sinks lower and lower…

It is still watched because the show churns out stars right and left. I do not know how you can say their musical credibility is sinking…

^exactly – Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are the only success stories really… It’s like Tiger Beat with money

WOW, you have a pretty high standard for success! I don’t think you have to be a SUPER STAR to be a success. Although idol has created some SUPER STARS, here is a brief list of succes stories…
    Kelly Clarkson
    Carrie Underwood
    Josh Gracin
    Jennifer Hudson
    Kellie Pickler
    Clay Aiken
    Chris Daughtry
    Ruben
    Fantasia

    The list goes on…
All of these people are out there selling loads of CD’s and making lots of money, and winning awards. Don’t get me wrong, I’m NOT a huge Idol fan… I’m just “keepin it real dog”

I wouldn’t classify he people who come out of Idol as stars. They are just well marketted products. Raw talent isn’t getting them coverage, their PR firm that is paid by Idol is getting them coverage.

So, who would you consider a star?
An Oscar winning actress? No, no Idol has ever won an Oscar… oh, wait… Jennifer Hudson did.

How about someone how has won 5 CMT awards, 2 CMA Awards, 2 ACM Awards, and 2 Grammy’s… in only two years. No Idol could do that right… they don’t have the “raw talent”. But wait, Carrie Underwood did!

And I don’t even want to take the time to list all of the awards that Kelly Clarkson has one.

You may not like AI, but you can’t deny the show churns out stars. That is part of the draw that keeps people watching.
