Anyone know of a good E waste drop off in Los Angeles? We’ve got tons of old studio gear that needs to be dumped properly (ancient CRT’s, computers, Umatic machines… etc).

    thanks

I was visiting a buddy of mine on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange the other day and besides feeling like I was in the middle of misunderstood chaos, they had HUGE bins labeled for eWaste. Seriously, anything that was electronic that died on the floor of the exchange was thrown in there. Printers, monitors, computers, keyboards, mice (both dead and living), traders that didn’t make it through the day and various other electronic parts all piled up in a rolly bin. Might want to check with an institution such as that to see if they might have a service. If not, there has to be third party places to donate used computer parts. Just make sure they don’t ship them off to China to communities who melt down the metals in very dangerous ways.

Yes, there is a electronics recycling place in Commerce, which is just south of Los Angeles. They picked up my old 48″ television and old computer tower for me and recycled them. It took me a LONG time to find a place that would actually pick up my stuff, so it was a great service..
