I am putting together a press release kit, which will contain a DVD-ROM with some PDFs, high resolution imiages, and uncompressed QT movies.

My fist instinct was to create a menu in director and create a self launching swf. But I realized it would be neater and cleaner if the operating sysem just opened a window with the folders and icons. For example when you download a dmg file, or insert a CD-ROM that installs software, the window just pops opena nd the icons are layed out nice – sometimes with graphics in the window. Do you understand what I mean?

    How is this done?

The prevailing wisdom these days is to put a portable website onto the disc- with or without flash. That way the disc is inserted and folks know to open as a web page. Also DVD is not always needed. Most websites entire content more than fits on a CD-ROM.
