I have an Octocore with Kona LHe card on it. I shoot with Panasonic HPX-170 (P2) and HMC-150 (AVCHD) I have a Panasonic LtW-1700 for QC Monitor. 75% of my work is edited in HD than down converted to SD. We recently shot a indie movie at 720 / 24P and I would like to buy a commercial HD TV for the Producer to watch me edit on it, so he doesn’t have to be right next to me to watch it on the Panny. My question is this: To save money if I buy a 720P monitor as opposed to a 1080P monitor, am I going to run into serious issues when I show a 1080i production on it for a future client. Buy the way the Panasonic monitor is fed, the HD/SDI signal off the Kona, the new monitor would get the analog component output.
    Thanks

No, Before 1080p monitors even existed all we had to display 1080i was 720p monitors. Your Kona will display to the cheaper 720p just fine, though you’ll kick yourself when you see the same material on a 1080p monitor.

Nope, no issues at all. All of our Panasonic Pro Plasma screens are 720p screens and they display 1080i perfectly. Can’t recommend those monitors enough and you can get the 42″ for under $900 I believe these days.
