OT: Blade Server render farm.
Will repost elsewhere, but thought some more techy people might have some thoughts on the following.
Seen a 2nd hand server with 10 x blades, each with 8 core processor, going cheap. Thinking of using for big AFX rendering jobs, and maybe Cinema 4d also. Supports Windows virtualisation.
Anyone tried this sort of thing?

HP and Intel blade servers are good – the whole shebang can be pretty noisy mind you!
If the blades are 8 core with a decent amount of RAM they could be a good deal – 1U render boxes are generally cheaper but more of a hassle to set up & admin
I see things have moved on a bit from the LCP days 🙂
