    The memory is listed as “65536 MB”. That would mean there is about 6.5GB of ram in that machine. In order to get good results you should never have less than a GB per core. Is that because this is the 32 bit version of the test?

    Very odd.

    65536 / 1024 = 64.

    It makes sense.

    If the 8-core is as fast as the current 12-cores things are looking fairly bright.

    Not sure this will be the base-model. Apple could offer a 6-core config as well.

    But if this 8core machine stacks up well against the current 12core versions, then the new 12core config should be a nice improvement.

    Certainly for someone like me who’s been bouncing between MacBookPros and iMacs since I abandoned my G5Quad in 2009.

    Agree. We’re still on a 2008 MacPro waiting eagerly for an update.

    Geez, I can’t believe I messed up that math. That makes a whole lot more sense considering FCP X runs terribly on less than 16GB.
