Am I the only one that finds it odd that there is no official statement from Apple on this?

… nothing on their site, no update on the Aperture links.

I’d also note that at the bottom of the page it mentions Photos coming early next year in Yosemite and then links to iOS8 version.

There’s apparently going to be a months long span between Photos in iOS 8 and whatever they do for the Yosemite version.

So if you want to step up from iPhoto you have to buy a dead app or wait more than 6 months… but it’s not EOL on the Apple site.
