I had little interest in Apple politics until I read Adam Lashinsky’s muckraking book Inside Apple, which happened to be at the library (meaning I might not read it after all). But the book was smoothly written and Lashinsky’s insight was admirable. Content is probably a year old already, but Lashinsky predicted some executive dirt and he was right on the money, implicating Forstall.
Hence, the Chicago Tribune (LA Times) story is a good overview. Cook was very smart to not make immediate changes when he took the helm, but now he’s taking charge and he seems to be pretty good. A Fortune (https://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2012/12/08/apple-mac-pro-made-in-us/) writer surmises the Mac Pro will be US-built. That a new Mac Pro is even being considered is a step forward.
I don’t need a new Mac at the moment or foreseeable future, although the new max’d out iMac seems stellar for FCPX or PPCS6, but it’s probably worth waiting for a Mac Pro option.
