    Hi,

I find my Finder in 10.5.6 lacking [ie, it doesn’t seem to be able to find all my files] – and I saw PathFinder 5 which looks awesome – but at $40, it’s a bit much.

Any of you have any Finder alternatives you’re using?

    Where are your files located?

    Hi Jeremey,

The files are on my MBP, as well as a plethora of FW800 Hard Drives.

Often Finder isn’t finding the files – and I know they’re there because I can locate them manually.

Maybe I need to somehow update the index or something so that Finder knows what’s on the machine.
Is there a way to do this?

I recall that Spotlight on Tiger was excellent at finding files, but for me, Panther hasn’t been efficient at all.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Wayne

First open your system prefs and check to make sure there’s nothing on in the private tab of spotlight, especially for your hard drives.

A quick google came up with this:
