[Sabreena Unger] “I have a first generation macbook air I’m trying to revive, but I don’t have the installation disk for it, and apparently the computer can only run the installation with a disk that is specifically for that build.”
I realize that this post is a month old and you probably found a solution by now but for others reading this it might be helpful to understand how you solved it so that the community can benefit in the future.
I’d say this was a trick question because the MacBook Air doesn’t have a disc drive and therefore there is no installation disc. The proper recovery procedure is to boot the computer and hold down Command (⌘)+R once you hear the boot chime. Continue holding Command+R until you see the Apple Logo. This will boot the recovery partition which will allow you to download OS X from Apples servers to recover the computer.
