OSX 10.10 limited to 2xGPU external

Unless Apple changes its mind on whether or not you need or want more than 2 GPUs, and certainly not if they are nVidia, then I don’t ever expect any change on that matter.

Why would a phone manufacturer support more than two graphics cards? Now that Resolve is serious about becoming an edit platform, there is less and less a reason to hold out hope for Apple returning to thier former glory.

It’s pretty obvious apple gave up on Color because they couldn’t or weren’t talented enough to compete with Black Magic. And thier miscalculation on the industries response to FCP x further in my mind solidifies this lack of interest in serious pro’s. Unless of course you count software that can color correct on ingest. Clear sign of abandoning professional work flow and expectations.

Uh. They clearly gave up on Color because they were happy to have a better color correction system for their OS without having to maintain it themselves. Color probably never generated profits. Apple is primarily a hardware company, they always have been.

And “Resolve is serious about becoming an edit platform” is totally misguided. It’s an “online editor”, that’s totally different from being a normal NLE that editors use. Resolve’s edit functionality is fine for conforming and making adjustments to an edit, they’re nowhere near what you need to edit a feature film from scratch, nor do they need to be.

ok, to me this is good news 🙂
my last info was that osx refuses external graphic cards at all (via thunderbolt).

so, just to be clear:
the external cards only work with “pci-exress-card extender”, not with thunderbolt, right?
and the limitation of 2 is just a limitation of external cards, so two internally and two externally
are possible?

i haven’t looked into the external options yet, because i still don’t need them, but i would like
to know the options (eg for my macbookpro when doing DIT stuff…)
