OS X 10.5.6 refuses network connections….
Just about at my wits end here trying to figure out why
the heck 10.5.6 will not allow other macs & pc’s to connect to it.on a pc the “shares” show up in network neighborhood.
on a mac the “shares” show up as something you can mount.every time I’m prompted for a user name & password it just flat out refuses.
I tried user/pass of the 10.5.6 system, I even put in the user names of
the other systems (that certainly should have worked)I’ve been a network engineer for 10 years & this really has me stumped.
It seems like there is something clearly broken here.
If I use ftp it works, but I need it to work properly as it did before I upgraded
to mac pro machines and leopard.any ideas?

I’ve narrowed it down to an SMB issue.
AFP (mac to mac) works fine.
unfortunately the pc’s need SMB to network.

I unboxed the other system and it did not have the problem.
I was able to fix it by updating to 10.5.7 (was running 10.5.6)
weird.
