OS Recommendations
Posted by Jerry Kemp on May 30, 2013 at 1:33 pmPlanning to upgrade to CS 6 from CS4. I’ll need to upgrade my Windows OS as well.
What is recommended, Windows 7 or Windows 8?

May 30, 2013 at 2:49 pmI’ve had no issues with my Nvidia cards or the Adobe Suite while on Win 8, at least no issues stemming from Win 8 itself.
Due diligence, make sure there are drivers for any legacy hardware and make the jump.

May 30, 2013 at 2:50 pmHi Jerry,
Besides the OS, your computer hardware is a very important part of the puzzle. Do you intend to edit HD? AVCHD? An old computer may not be up to the task. How much RAM do you have? Probably 2-4GB if coming from XP. You’ll want a minimum of 8GB with CS6, 16GB being preferable. A Core i7 is a great processor for CS6. If you have a “Core 2 Duo” or something and you try to edit HD, it will not be fun at all. Also, CS6 can utilize the GPU (graphics card) to accelerate Premiere, IF you have the right one (many Nvidia models supported natively or with a hack).
Please let us know your PC specs and what you intend to edit/export on a daily basis
Thanks

June 25, 2013 at 3:24 pmI have 16 GB RAM, and 2 TB video RAID. I believe my hardware is adequate. For some reason when this system was built it had XP 64 installed. Now, I want to upgrade to CS6, and want to go with Windows 8 if that is possible.
I see that the published spec is Windows 7…
