Doing a complex mockup (it’ll handed off to more experienced modellers if the animation gets approved) using lot of free objects found online – some of them 3ds and fbx

Everything works and renders fine – but I get an error message every time I render with a list of a 3 textures tied to the found images – I have removed all unused materials – and cycled thru every material manually looking for these three texture assignments and can’t find them.

It’s a problem because it prevents me exporting the project to another computer for overnight renders.

I can see the list of missing textures in the attributes info manager – but there’s no indication of what materials or objects these textures are assigned to so I can delete them.

Is there another way to locate and remove them?

    Thanks!

Have you saved it as a Project?

bad textures mean errors when trying to save as project – that’s what I’m trying to get around

If a texture can’t be found when saving to a Project, C4d will bring up an Open dialog so you can show it where the missing texture is (at least in R12). If you don’t know where the missing textures are (perhaps they never were there) you could replace them with something else that either won’t matter or will show up obviously if they are used in a visible channel… or if the models you dl’d did come with textures that would be the time to re-find them.

Thanks – good advice about replacing with a obvious “flag” texture – but the project was so convoluted and scary i chickened out and went with the very tedious, very manual way – opening each material in the material editor and clicking thru each parameter one by one and checking the texture – when it was one of the bad/missing ones – I cleared it. This wouldn’t have been a big deal with most projects, but when you have a hundred materials (!) IF ANYONE FROM MAXON EVER READS THIS – TAKE NOTE – THIS TEXTURE MANAGEMENT THING NEEDS TO BE EASIER AND MORE INTUITIVE

go to the Support/Suggestion page on Maxon’s site and put in a suggestion. They do listen to those.
