This is my first time cutting on FCP X.

I’ve 7 years experience on FCP 7 and Avid, but this is all new. So please excuse my mixing up projects/events etc. Anyway, a little help would be great.

So this is a simplified version of my problem:

I started a ‘project’ I mean Library. Imported the rushes, generated proxies, but then somehow the library got deleted (don’t ask). So I have all these proxies in the folder in finder, but my question is how do I start a fresh event/library from scratch, import the original rushes but then re-link these to the proxy files?

    Thanks in advance

So your media is all external to the library? Originals and proxies? I think you should be able to open a backup. Should be in your user>movies>Final Cut Backups folder.

I don’t think you’d ba able to relink to the proxies any other way. Especially with a new project, er, library.

Just try calling it Library, event and timeline. Eliminate the phrase project from your vocabulary to avoid confusion. apple really screwed that one up.
