organize dup folders and content in AE project window
This is really specific to projects that contain imported projects with duplicate folder structures inside the project panel.
I use the same template folder structure inside AE to organize all my comp folders. References, sourceFootage, preComps, solids, LUTs, etc.
If I am working inside the AE project file for shot 105. Sometimes, I may import the project file for shots 104 and 103 to pick through them and their contents.
I now have imported project files all with the same folder structures. So for example, I have duplicate folders called preComps, solids, reference folders, source folders, LUT folders.
I would like to find a way that after I reduce the main project file, I am not manually going in and consolidating all the remaining used items in three or four solid folders and bringing them all into one solid folder. All the source material located in the three or four folders all called “Source” get moved into the one source folder.
I am basically importing project files, and grabbing what I need to use. Running a reduction and then I manually move all the contents from those imported folders into the project’s master folder structure.
Everything in the solid folder, move to the master solid folder (the project now only has one solid folder)
Everything in the reference folders moves to the main ref folder
Everything in the source folders moves to the main source folder.
I do this all by hand after the reduction is run on the master project to hand off a clean project. The goal would be to never even know there was an imported project with duplicate folder structures to dig through.
Are any tools out there to help move contents from duplicate folders into the project files’ main folder structure?

I can’t immediately think of a script or extension that does it specifically by comparing the existing folder structures, but something like the “declutter” script on aescripts that re-organizes the entire project could be a good alternative.
If you can setup it’s reorganizing rules to be close to how you structure the individual projects in the first place it should come very close.
