    Hey Jon,

    Try playing with SweepNURBS by drawing a spline and then covering it with a circle or rectangular spline. This will give you a long tube. To start with you can then animate the position of the points along the sline, or simply fly the camera around it/along it. You can also animate the growth to make it….umm….grow. Additionally play with bump and displacement textures placing some transparencies on these models to give them a glassy/watery look. Then animate the organic noise in the texture channel to make the whole thing move and “flow” on the surface.

    Lots of other things, but that would be a start.
