    Hi

We are looking for a lower cost option to Aja KIPro

The BMD HyperShuttle Pro si not yet shipping which we think is ideal

Any other worthwhile option to Aja KiPro

We are using Panasonic P2 for our shows.

    Cheers
    Abhijit

The KiPro Mini is a lower cost solution and will be able to record DNXHD soon.

The Hyper shuttle is using uncompressed captures- that will make your edit more difficult.

    Hey,

try the “ATOMOS – Ninja”(HDMI) or the “ATOMOS – Samurai” (SDI).
I have the Ninja and it works fine!
Only thing ist there is NO Pass-Trou of the HDMI signal.

    Greetings

    Differences…

    Ninja US$ 995, KiPro Mini US$ 1995
Ninja has HDMI in only, KiPro Mini has HDMI in and HD-SDI in
Ninja uses standard camcorder batteries so single charger if you have a camcorder with similar battery
KiPro mini uses 4-pin XLR power in which you can find many pro batteries for.
Ninja uses 2.5″ HDD/SSD, KiPro Mini records to CF-card
Ninja with HDD is not vibration resistant, KiPro mini is.
Ninja has HDMI embedded or line level mini audio, KiPro mini has XLR unbalanced audio in
Ninja has no time code in, KiPro mini has
Ninja has built-in display monitor, KiPro mini doesn’t.

KiPro mini will soon support DNxHD.
Ninja have introduced a small HD-SDI to HDMI converter with battery at IBC.

In the UK a company called ProAV lists the Hyperdeck Shuttle as in stock.
It’s so cheap and looks good but it depends on what you’re after as for example it’s very short on connectors – no analog audio or remote for instance.
As for the uncompressed only, yes that could be a bit of an issue, but I’d say only if you’re in a real hurry to post, as it’s simple enough to transcode to ProRes of whatever flavour overnight. You can then either keep the uncompressed as archive or just go ProRes HQ entirely and bin the original.
