  • Option missing in AV IN/OUT SETUP

Posted by Roli Rivelino on November 11, 2010 at 2:32 pm

I’m trying to record from an old VHS onto my FS-100 via my HVX.

I’ve looked in the manual and it says to go to the AV IN/OUT SETUP screen and change 1394 control from OUT to ON.

My problem is when I go to the AV IN/OUT screen the only two options there are CMPNT OUT SEL (set to 720p) and HP MODE.

Am I in the wrong menu, what have I done incorrectly? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks.

Are you in camera mode or VTR mode. You should be in VTR mode.

But those settings will have nothing to do with the FW out.

Are you keeping the settings on DV all the way those? Do you have video on the cameras screen? Since you are not controlling the camera or FireStore with each other but both are pretty much passive it should just work. You see the video on the camera’s LCD, hit record on the FS and it should be recording.

    Hi Michael,

Do you mean MCR/VCR mode? Because when I go into that mode I can’t get back to the AV IN/Out menu. If not how can I get to VTR please?

I’ve looked through the manual and I can’t find how to.

    many thanks

Yes, MCR/VCR mode, that turns the camera into a deck.

How are you hooking up the VHS to the camera? Do you see the image on the LCD? Are you keeping everything set to DV25, camera and FS?

    Hi Michael,

I found the 1394 OUT menu item, the reason I wasn’t finding it because the camera was in P2 mode instead of tape.

However it still didn’t make a difference, I haven’t set the camera and FS to DV25, I will do now.

The deck is connected to the TV using the component cable and no I’m not seeing the video on the LCD.

Is this because I haven’t set to DV25 on cam and FS?
