    Hi

I work with studio quality audio = external DAC on my iMac and Studio monitors

and need to optimise my audio for less than ideal target listening equipment like iphones and so on.

Are there any guides as to what is needed in the way of equalisation?

    Thanks

    Peter

Tricky. I had a client ask me to make files that would work on smartphones. These were music files. I had to find an upper octave for the bass that would be audible on the small speakers. Then again, if he’s using airpods, you may hear more bass in them. Make sense?

I’ve had very good results using Waves’ MaxxBass. It calculates the precise higher harmonics that are related to the fundamental bass frequencies of the program material. Adding the harmonics gives a natural perceived increase in the bass content without actually adding more bass energy or muddying up the sound.
