Optimal Settings in Apple Compressor For Videos with Text?
So I’m trying to compress this video of mine, which was a mocked up title sequence. The problem is, my type always comes out looking rather poor when I compress it.
A buddy of mine suggested going big, and outputting to HD and perhaps that would fix the problem. While the text is certainly much bigger and easier to read, it looks… wrong? It’s almost as though its interlaced, despite me telling the footage to be de-interlaced.
Here’s two examples:
The compression workflow I used was as follows:
Export as Quicktime Movie from FCP
Open said movie in Quicktime
Export –> Movie to Quicktime movie
Settings:
H.264
Framerate: Current
Key Frames: Every 24 Frames
Frame Re-Ordering Checked
Best Quality (slider)
Best Quality (Multi Pass)
Datarate: Auto
Size –> HD 1280×720 16:9
Deinterlace Source Checked. The video itself looks phenomenal but the text comes out looking funny…
So any suggestions of what I might want to do would be great. Should I use Compressor? Will it have better options? Is one of their pre-sets better?
If someone has a good workflow it’d be greatly appreciated.
Also, I’m still very new to this whole compression stuff, especially for HD so I may come back with lots of questions. Haha
