Optimal settings for 1080p 720p and 480p FCP export file using H.264
I want to sell digital downloads of a short film I made through my website.
The film is 14 min long. The current Master file I’m using in my Final Cut Pro timeline is 102.34 GB with a resolution of 1920x1080p.
I would like to offer 3 resolution download options on my website.
1080p, 720p and 480p.I would like to offer both PC and Mac users the same options.
So 6 files total. 3 Quicktime files and 3 Windows Media Files.I would like the file sizes to be…
1080p = 1.2 GB (roughly)
720p = 420 MB (roughly)
480p = 180 MB (roughly
My plan is to create the Optimal Quicktime then convert to WMV.

Now to my question…
What are the optimal Final Cut Pro/quicktime conversion/export settings that will give me the highest quality image for each resolution/file size I’m seeking?
I’m using the H.264 for the quicktime files.
Key Frame: Every…?
Frame Reodering: Checked or Not?
Data Rate: Automatic or Restricted? And if Restricted?
Restricted to how many kbits per second.Compressor Quality High?
Best Quality Multipass?
Obviously each resolution will have optimal settings. Does anyone know what those are? Is their a manual for this?

I’m OK in the audio department but if anyone could help me create the highest quality digital download at the file size I’m seeking it would be much appreciated.

You should be doing this in Compressor. You make a QT movie of your timeline, drop it into Compressor and set up the 3 presets. IMO there is no reason to make QT and WVM versions of the H264. H264 will playback on either platform.
Compressing is something you have to test and get a feel for.

If you are wanting those file size then you have to do the math and use restrictedRestricted to how many kbits per second.
