Optical flow not working / all I get is a green screen
Hi there folks,
I’m trying to use optical flow in Motiopn 3 to slow shots down to 50%, but every time I try, nothing happens, I just get the little spinny symbol thing (technical I know) and it doesn’t give me an estimated time, it just sticks at the first frame. the footage is HDV and I’ve imported it at 25fps using ProRes 442 (SQ). To further impound the problem, even when I export clip from motion at 50% speed using only blending I’m faced with a green screen when I try and get it into the Final Cut timeline. I’m working on a pretty decent Quad:
2 x 2.66 Ghz Dual-Core
7 GB memory
+ plenty of HD spaceDoes anybody out there have any idea what’s going wrong? Or have any ideas as to a decent workflow when using ProRes?

Try a different codec to see if that’s the issue. Also remember optical flow analyzes the entire piece of media, not just your in/out points. So if it’s a long clip, trim and re-export first.
