    Hola,

So, I got Optical Flares from Video Copilot. I am following the instructions on how to install them. I’m supposed to go to Program Files > Adobe > After Effects > Support Files > Plugins and just paste the whole folder in there. But the option doesn’t show up on the effects list when I open AE!

It was working fine with CC, but I downloaded CC 2014 off the Creative Cloud a couple of days ago and now I go to re-install and it doesn’t work! Any advice?

    Thanks!

Make sure that you’re installing to the plug-ins folder for the correct version.

Thanks for the article. I followed its instructions and still no luck.

I tried migrating the settings from AE CC to AE CC 2014. I also tried linking a shortcut from the AE CC Optical Flares folder to the AE CC 2014 Plugins folder. Nothing.

In fact, none of my plugins are showing up. I have lightsaber presets from Video Copilot as well, and they, along with the Optical Flares plugin, are all in the AE CC 2014 folders. But none of them show up. I have restarted AE several times.

    Ugh.

Update: I Google searched for updates to the Optical Flares plugin, found one from 2013 (I downloaded the plugin originally in 2012), and replaced the old with the new. Success…or so I thought. I am able to see the effect on the Effects list, but when I apply it to a new solid, everything freezes and I have to hard-shut-down AE.

I about about to try just going back to AE CC…

Alright, well, no luck with anything so far. It still works on AE CC, the previous version. So I am just going to deal with it. If I want to add lens flares, I’ll render out a video file with CC 2014 and then apply the flares to the new video file in CC. It’s just a stupid process…
