Have shot part of a documentary with panasonic DVX in 24pA mode. Probably won’t go to film, but I plan on possibly going to HBO or showtime. If I do the festival circuit, it’ll be on DVD I guess. Anyway, I’ve got an idea to buy a cheaper camcorder for the son of my subject (and I guess for the subject himself). The idea is to leave the camera with him to tape his dad from his perspective. Obviously, no cheap consumer cameras shoot 24pA. Also gamma and whatnot will be different. Is that going to hurt me? In the end, it may work for me to give the film a different feel when it’s that camera.

    Trevor,

You will never be able to match the look, so, like you said, use the different look to your advantage. The more the POV shots look like a non-pro shot them, the better off you’ll probably be.
