    Hi there,

Pretty new to Vegas 10 – have come to it from Premier Pro where I am used to the action of the space bar starting and stopping play on the timeline.

Vegas seems different. It starts play from a point in the timeline, but when I press space to stop, it goes back to where I started play from.

Can I change it to stay at the point on the timeline where I press the spacebar, rather than have it go back? I am trying to do cuts on the main timeline and this seems counter productive.

    Thanks for your help.

Simply go to “General” in the preferences of Vegas and
select “Make spacebar and F12 play/pause instead of play/stop

That has driven me nuts, too. Since the beginning of time a spacebar press has been a start/stop toggle!

Kelly, that was in the “old” days 🙂
Vegas subscribes to the “new paradigm” and, as you’ve discovered, does things VERY differently.
You need to do like I did when I first started using Vegas and that was to forget everything I knew about running a dpsVelocity.
It made my life a LOT easier!!

    Options / Preferences / General / Check box> Make spacebar & F12 play/pause instead of play/stop.

Sony Vegas isn’t all that different than other NLEs, and where it is different, it’s usually better.

You might also wish to read the Help file along with Preferences. There is a wealth of easy and simple info to be had. You’ve bought Vegas, might as well squeeze out all the juice you’ve invested in.

    Grazie
