Opening project files with drag-drop
Posted by Omer Aydin on November 7, 2012 at 12:06 pmAnyone have any idea why they disabled opening .VEG files by drag-droping over Vegas window title bar?
It was a pretty handy function. Now the only way for opening a project via drag-drop is to open it in nested mode.Omer Aydin replied 13 years, 6 months ago 6 Members · 7 Replies -

November 7, 2012 at 12:56 pmThanks for the quick responses.
I’m talking about opening a project by drag-drop, not just opening.
When there are already running Vegas processes available, I don’t double-click on the project and run new copies of Vegas because reusing the already running processes is faster and wiser with memory usage.
Drag-drop opening used to be very handy for me for quick-opening projects listed in a Windows Explorer search results. since it’s disabled, now I have to work like you mentioned above, running a new process for each project.
I think it’s a tiny detail and won’t bother many, but it slows down my work. I don’t know how many of you even noticed it’s gone but I want the drag-drop opening function back.

November 7, 2012 at 4:35 pmVegas 8 is the last version I remember where you could drag and drop a veg file on the title bar to open the project.

November 7, 2012 at 8:14 pmHmm, interesting… Vegas Movie Studio Platinum HD 10 lets me drop a project file onto the titlebar (and anywhere else for that matter) and it opens that project.
I guess the behaviour would be a bit different in Vegas Pro – dropping a VEG onto the timeline probably should next that VEG into the current project, but I would expect that dropping onto the titlebar or elsewhere on the interface would open that project.

November 7, 2012 at 8:51 pmI’ve been using: select .veg, R-Click, drag (onto Tracks), select Open Project from the context menu.
Have not installed Vegas 12 though. Would be annoying if they took this out.

November 8, 2012 at 7:59 pmRight-Click-Drag works! Thank you very much for that tip Tyson Onaga.
I thought they disabled that feature but it appears they just hide it:)
