  • Opening one sequence opens them all

    Hello everyone,

I’ve just upgraded to FCP 5.1.2. Now, when I open a sequence every sequence in the project opens in tabs in the Timeline. I sometimes have a lot of sequences in a project and I don’t want them all open.

I tried creating a new project thinking there may be some anomaly from converting one from an earlier FCP version, and there are some differences. I created five sequences in the new project. Closed the Timeline window and then double clicked on “sequence 4”. The Timeline opened with sequences 1 and 4 in tabs. I closed the Timeline again and double clicked on Sequence 5. This time the Timeline opened with sequences 1, 4 and 5 in tabs. Once I had them all open at one time or another, then all of them open when I try to open just one. The same thing happens no matter which method I use to open the sequence.

I don’t seem to be able to find a preference setting that controls this behavior, nor have I found any mention of it in the new manual. Can anyone clue me in on how to open one sequence at a time like I could in V.5.0.x?

    Thanks,
    David

Once ll the sequences have opened, close the canvas. Select one sequence in the browser and press the return key. if they all still open trash your preferences.

    All the best,

    Tom
